Northwest Elements Earrings
These earrings may look simple, but their components are so special and have such an amazing backstory!
The blue beads are antique trade beads - yes, they are over 100 years old. Each bead is made of hand-faceted glass, with a special cobalt blue hue. These beads were crafted in Europe, and commonly traded in the Pacific Northwest in the 1700s and 1800s. These particular beads were traded in Africa in the 1800s and have found their way across the centuries and continents to become part of these earrings. Each bead is different due to their handmade nature and because each bead has aged differently over the years.
The bright, sky blue of these beads paired with the rich green of Canadian nephrite jade teardrops is our little homage to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where Amy’s maternal family is from. The inclusions and patterns in the jade are especially striking to look at!
